Our Robots
2020: ORION | FIRST Infinite Recharge |
2019: Flip | FIRST Destination: Deep SpaceSpace explorers prepared for liftoff, needing to load hatches and cargo into the cargo ship and rocket ships. Our robot Flip has a front-and-back delivery system and a three-stage elevator that lands our robot on the third level habitat. |
2018: LAMBDA | FIRST Power UpIn a game that stressed strategy more than any other game in recent memory, speed and efficiency were more important than ever. We designed LAMBDA with a double-jointed intake arm, which helped us to pick up and hold onto power cubes. We also earned the Excellence in Engineering Award sponsored by Delphi due to our successful use of Power Take Off (PTO). |
2017: Artemis | FIRST SteamworksThe Steamworks challenge gave teams the opportunity to do the following: collect fuel (neon yellow wiffle balls) and shoot it into a high or low boiler, carry and deliver gears to an airship in the center of the field, and/or climb a rope to 'lift off' during the last 30 seconds of the match. Steamworks was unique in that it gave teams the opportunity to place a human 'pilot' in the airship on the field, making it an engaging and interactive experience. Artemis was definitely our MVP for the 2017 Competition Season. In March, she brought us our second consecutive victory at the San Diego Regional. We also won the Creativity Award in recognition for Artemis's unique code. At the Sacramento Regional, we advanced to the Quarterfinals. |
2016: Sir Angus Macaw (SAM) | FIRST StrongholdFIRST Stronghold was an epic, medieval-themed game. Teams worked in alliances of three to breach the opposite alliance's defenses, and shoot 'boulders' into the enemy castle. 2016's game brought a whole new level of audience engagement to the table, letting spectators vote (by cheering, of course) on an interchangeable defense every few matches, which could have been anything from the drawbridge to the cheval-de-frise. SAM brought us our first regional victory after a spell of quarter/semifinal eliminations. However, our win wasn't without stress: during competition, we had to entirely remake our axles, which became stripped during our matches. At the Sacramento Regional, we did not qualify for the Quarterfinals, largely because of SAM's various reliability issues. |

2010: Dr. Hipster | FIRST Breakaway

2009: Buttercup and "Bettercup" | FIRST Lunacy![]() |
2008: Beasley | FIRST Overdrive![]() As it turns out, our hurdling device was incurring huge penalties during competition, so we had to remove it. Even without the ability to hurdle, it performed amazingly. We were one of the top lapbots, making it around the track up to 8 times per match. The transmissions had a few issues, but other than that the performance was golden. |
2007: Mr. Fritz | FIRST Rack n' Roll![]() |
